Robin Roberts stole a show at Espy on Wednesday night with an emotional speech after winning the Arthur Ashe Courage award. Roberts, anchor “Good Morning America” who was loved by his career at ESPN, announced that he won his fight with MDS or Myelodyssplastic Syndrome, which was diagnosed with him last year and needed a bone marrow transplant. Roberts also survived breast cancer five years ago. Roberts began his career in 1983 as an anchor of sports and reporters for the WDD-TV in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He joined ESPN as a Sportscaster in February 1990, where he lived until 2005. He became famous in Sportscenter because of his slogan, “Continue with your bad yourself!” Roberts began working for ABC News, especially as the main reporter, for Good Morning America in June 1995. In 2007 Roberts was diagnosed with an initial form of breast cancer. He underwent surgery on August 3, and in January 2008 completed eight chemotherapy treatments, followed by 6½ weeks radiation treatment. Over the years, Roberts worked at ESPN and Good Morning America, contributing to both programs. During that time, he served primarily as a news offer in GMA. In 2005, Roberts was promoted to Co-Achor Good Morning America. In December 2009, Roberts joined George Stephanopoulos as GMA’s co-dashor after Diane Sawyer went to dock ABC World News.
