Nikola signs deal to build hydrogen fueling stations across North AmericaNikola signs deal to build hydrogen fueling stations across North America

EV Automaker Nikola has signed a memorandum understanding of opal fuel to build and operate a hydrogen refueling station throughout North America. Under the preliminary agreement, the two companies will work to develop the technology needed to accelerate the adoption of fuel cell electric vehicles. They also plan to explore the use of renewable natural gas.

Initially, they said they planned to focus on infrastructure for private shipping companies before seeing whether it made sense to make something similar available to the public. Until now, opal has built more than 350 renewable natural gas stations.

“Today marks another important step forward in the Nikola energy infrastructure plan and focus on the provision of hydrogen fuel filling services to customers,” said Pablo Koziner, President of the Nikola Energy and Commercial Operations.

The announcement came only a few months after the Federal Prosecutor charged the Founder of Nikola and former Chief Executive Trevor Milton of Fraud. Among other accusations, the Securities Commission and Exchange (SEC) accused Milton by misunderstanding the company producing hydrogen in four times the market level.
